Roots & Shoots is a community based healthy eating and organic growing project, we aim to:
- Reconnect with where food comes from
- Encourage people to grow their own organic fruit and vegetables
- Eat seasonal products
- Teach the preparation of food - fun and tasty
- Work with people of all ages
Who Are we?
Kate Jackson: Organic gardener working with schools and community projects. Promoting good health through raising awareness of where food comes from.
Sarah Atkinson MNIMH Dip Phyt: Medical herbalist practicing for 15 years. Over this time has witnessed many instances of the healing power of 'good food' and eating well.
Joan Carroll: Organic grower with experience of working within the social services.
What Can We Offer
- Facilitation: we can support you in growing your own organic produce, as an individual or as a group project.
- Food: find out how to prepare quick and tasty meals from your own or locally grown produce.
- Fun: come on a herb walk and discover wild food, herbs and hedgerow cooking.
- Fitness: all of the above activities will enhance your mental and physical health
